I am finally getting the chance to dance again! I danced for 9 years of my life, 1 year ballet, 7 years tap and 7 years jazz. Once I got into middle school, I started cheerleading and that became my passion that continued throughout high school. Dances and halftimes were always my favorite part of cheering so once I moved to Davis, I tired to look for some type of dancing in my life. I tried out for a group a few times last year but ended up not making it. I was pretty crushed and was really bummed that I didn't have dance in my life. This summer, I found out that another group on campus was having tryouts in the fall and I knew this was my chance. I tried out for the group and out of about 70 people, around 25 of us got called back. We had a second set of auditions and I and about 14 others made the group! It is a hip-hop group on campus that stems from the Pilipino group on campus, Mga Kapatid. Our group name is Mk Modern. Even though we come from the Pilipino group, not everyone is Pilipino...but everyone is asian but me! This was definitely awkward at first but I LOVE everyone who I dance with and feel very comfortable and welcomed. I have made so many new friends through this group and have so much fun with them every time we are together! It's nice to have a distraction from school a few nights a week as well as our performances on the weekends! I hope you all get to come watch me sometime!
Me, Jeanette and Ericka...after practice, getting ready to kick it!
Halloween night kick it!
All the girls before our very first performance.
Paprazzi stopped us for a group photo. haha.
We got to share the stage in Sacramento with Jasmine Trias from American Idol....she's VERY unprofessional!
